"We met Dieter and Stefan for the first time in 1986 I think, at the same time when we started our first musical project (which later lead to Maeror Tri), in our little hometown Leer (located in East-Frisia in the very north-west of Germany, near to the North Sea and the Dutch border). The people are already a bit "special" in this region, but Dieter & Stefan were true individuals. They were a bit older than us and they really moved with STYLE. And they did their very own musical thing, Nostalgie Éternelle, with so much passion and seriousness, we could only admire it. We met them from time to time and became friends, so when we did our very first public performance in Leer (May 1987) we asked them to share the stage with us.

Their music was completely different from ours (much more electronic and song-oriented) but it fit so well together on this evening. Later Dieter showed me their involvement in the international cassette-scene at that time - they had already many compilation-tracks released on various tapes around the world. A totally new & fascinating, completely independent and truly underground world opened up for me. What they did was very encouraging and one big influence to start our own actitivies in the cassette-scene.
In 1990 we released a split-tape together, 'Somnia et Expergisci'. Shortly after that they split up I think, and Dieter somehow disappeared completely. Stefan continued as Inox Kapell and I met him from time to time, especially when he performed one of his unique & crazy dadaistic art-things live...
I was very surprised & excited to hear from Dieter again recently. It's great to have them back, after such a long time!"

"Nostalgie Éternelle came together like other bands out of frustration in a place that even had a fitting name: Leer ("empty") in Ostfriesland / Germany.

Nostalgie Éternelle are like an echo of music of the eighties. "The sound like the Simple Minds in a shoebox" wrote Christian Pfluger (Welttraumforscher) in 1988.

The band was formed around Dieter Mauson and Stefan Heinze (aka Inox Kapell) as the last notes of the eighties music were fading away. They created something exitingly original, a mix of experimental, industrial pop and early techno - dark and moody. The voices of both singers have their own distinct sound through which the charm of that decade shines, leaving their own mark behind. They wrote amazing pieces which were published worldwide on uncountable tape-samplers. Their music was a mixture of influences from the 70's and 80's, wierd samples, dieter mauson's bass, inox dadaistic voice, echos of The Fall, playing playfully onward and outward, ... a definte "must".

Their own indie-label ONE LAST DREAM was founded in 1988. At the end of the eighties the underground scence transformed itself and Nostalgie Éternelle reflected the originality and spirit of musical freedom of that times. In 1992 they splitted up but now they are back."

"De 1987 à 1992, le duo allemand Nostalgie Éternelle a produit plus d'une dizaine de k7, évoluant entre synth-wave et darkwave. S'ils sont de retour depuis 2009 avec à la clé des parutions vinyles : un EP (sur le mythique label EE Tapes) et un LP, le double cd qui nous concerne ici est une superbe anthologie de titres parus dans la première période. Vingt-quatre titres marqués par ce son si typique des productions k7 dark et cold de l'époque, un grain qui sied si bien aux couleurs minimal-wave dispensées par le duo. Chant froid, basse en avant, synthés analogiques, structures robotiques et/ou répétitives, Nostalgie Éternelle ne cherche jamais à séduire, en cela ils sont plus dans la lignée des pionniers industriels de la fin des 70's tel Cabaret Voltaire, The Normal ou Fad Gadget que des groupes de leur époque. Parfaitement en accord avec le retour en grâce des musiques synth-wave underground dans les années 10's (éditées ou rééditées par des labels aussi passionnants que Wierd Rds, Dark Entries, Onderstroom, Minimal Wave, La Forme Lente, Desire, Mannequin...), Nostalgie Eternelle mérite vraiment d'être ausculté, que ce soit par des DJ's en manque de pépites underground ou des amateurs de musiques synthétiques cold dérangées."

"... heute Abend ersteinmal über Kopfhörer das ganze Album
gehört! Damit die erste Seite des Albums auch zum 2. Mal :) ... eine Menge
kann ich schreiben dazu ... ich versuche, mich kurz zu fassen. Erstmal zur
Pressqualität: unschlagbar gut, man hört ja fast überhaupt kein
Knistern ... glasklar wie eine CD. Artworks sensationell bis ins
Detail ... die blauen Kreise im Fotomotiv machen sich hervorragend, wie auch
auf dem Logo der Platte selbst. Zu den Tracks: meine absoluten Favoriten
sind 'Wüstenritt' und 'Virus', gefolgt von 'No cabe duda' und 'Valley of Harmony'.
'Virus' ist der perfekte Start der Platte und der Song hat sehr einen
psychedelischen late 60s Touch für mich, auch der Gesang ... das Ganze
kombiniert mit einer Rhythmbox, die gut nach vorne geht ... klasse
Opener ... hübsche Klangbearbeitung der Gitarre. 'Wüstenritt' klingt wie der
Soundtrack zu einem 70er Sci fi-Film, sehr organisch ... immer wieder mit
Brüchen und Wechseln ... hübscher Cut Off Filter später im
Orgelsound ... tolle Klangsymbiose ... freestyle ... 'No cabe duda': ein Stück mit
zartbitterer Relax-Stimmung, sehr 80er Dark Pop ... etwas glatter als die
vier Stücke davor, ein Stück, das nach Selbstreflektion klingt, gut fürs
Radio. Ebenfalls eine hübsche Klanglandschaft mit drahtiger Melodie ist
das Titelstück des Albums. 'Magie fragile' ... bizarr und doch
harmonisch ... 'Valley of Harmony' hat einen sehr surrealistischen Touch,
organisch mit interessanten im Stück verteilten Geräusch- und
Stimmeneinlagen ... tolle Vocals in den anderen Tracks ... bei NE gelten eigene
musikalische Gesetzmäßigkeiten, was sehr gut ist ... alles klingt wie
natürlich gewachsen und handmade ... der Gesang und Rhythmus ist nicht immer
"auf der 1", sondern beide Elemente laufen auch einmal unabhängig
voneinander ... die Synthies klingen gespielt wie Saiteninstrumente, nichts
wirkt maschinell oder quantisiert ... Zum Mix: mein persönlicher Eindruck
ist ein Klangbild sehr in der Mitte des Stereopanoramas, in dem nur
sporadisch einzelne Sounds mal mehr nach links oder rechts gehen, manches
klingt fast mono, klanglich aber immer kristallin ... aber wie gesagt: eigene
Gesetzmäßigkeiten in der gesamten Produktion, damit ein definitiv
unverwechselbarer Stil. Gratulation!!!!"
